In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
• In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
- For my media product I shot a medium close-up photo, for school magazine covers there is not a specific angle that the photo should be shot by as in a celebrity magazine or a fashion one. I used natural lighting and I also used flash as well so I can focus more on detail. I used a one of my friend to pose for the picture who is also a student in Marylebone Six Form 16 years old. She was wearing black clothes on purpose so her clothing will contrast with the bright orange background created by the lower down the school years students in art. I used pupil’s art works that are hanged on the wall to promote the school more as it is an Art School and included a student to show that students are involved in the school’s activities and are interested in creative arts. I focused more on the background and the art works I asked my model to look up so it looks that she is thinking because I want to connect it with my magazine title “Think”.
• How does your media product represent particular social groups?
- My media product represents the Marylebone students and in general all students and the youth. This magazine represents that social group because in its cover it’s got a six former which represents school in general and then the different editorial pillars represent Marylebone School specifically because they are about the different competitions and the trips and also the different things that interest the students of Marylebone School.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
This magazine would be distributed at school but also to students from other schools. This is the reason I have included a barcode in my magazine. From the sales of my magazine I will be able to know how many copies should be printed out for next time. What would be the audience for your media product? The audience for my magazine would be students at St Marylebone School but also students from other schools will be welcomed to read it as well , so they can see the different activities that take part in St Marylebone School and is a great opportunity to advertise the school so pupils from other school can apply for six form . I used a more informal language as it addressed to students lower down the school and to students in six form. In that case it creates this feeling for people of that age that it is something fun to read and connected with lessons directly.
How did you attract/address your audience?
My front cover targets young students not only from St Marylebone but pupils from other schools as well in many ways. Firstly, I used a young model for my cover, so I can show that I chose someone from that age-group to represent my school. The orange and colourful background creates a fun atmosphere and also advertises the different at creations from pupils in St Marylebone school. It is a way to encourage pupils from other schools to apply for this specific school. Secondly , I used a more creative font for my cover to make it more appealing to the audience. Thirdly, I edited my picture in Adope Photoshop and inserted in my cover butterflies to add a more funky and modern look to my design and also to add more colour so my magazine is not monotone. Contents pageI decided to have as a background for my contents page a Christmas tree that I pictured in Westfield , which is a location that a lot of teenagers visit and is known not only to them but to all age groups. The Christmas Tree indicates the exact date this magazine was published and is something relevant at this time. The activities that I included in my magazine are specifically addressed to six-formers and this will show people outside St Marylebone’s six-form all the activities, trips that have been organised from both school and students. I also used a bright colour for my font and specifically the colour red that is connected with Christmas.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
The most useful technique for my magazine that I used most was the one that I had the opportunity to edit my picture both model and background. An also very useful tool was the one with the brushes that allowed me to add butterflies with all sort of colours and create a more funky look .

You have generally answered these questions well. Watch out for typo's though and there are also a couple of questions missing.
For example the first one regarding forms and conventions.
I look forward to reading your remaining work. Continue analysing in detail referring back to examples on your cover as much as possible. Maybe refer to specific cover lines too.
